First Vehicle Inspection Centre Opened

 

H.E. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Undersecratary of Ministry of Interior inaugurated the first vehicle inspection Centre, under Adnoc Distribution's management at Abu Dhabi Traffic and License Department. The inauguration was attended by H.E. EIias AI Mur, Lebanese Interior Minister, and high ranking officers from the Ministries of the Interior in UAE and Lebanon. The General Manager of Adnoc Distribution Mr. Jamal AI Dharih and all company senior management received the visiting delegation and UAE officials.



AGM Marketing & Sales at Adnoc Distribution, Mr. Taher Al Ameri briefed the attendants with the procedures used in this vital project, which is responsible for ensuring vehicle safety on public roads, reducing accidents af a technical nature and providing administrative and technical services ta vehicle users. Mr. AI Ameri said, the aims are Adnoc Distribution will manage the centre in line with international best practice in vehicle inspection, reduce traffic accidents, increase work road users' safety, and protect the environment, in addition to facilitating procedures for the public. He explained that the centre contains three technical areas using high technalogy that undertake the process of vehicle inspection, the first point designated for exhaust inspection, the second point for bumper and brake inspection, and the final point for the visual inspection which includes the soundness of 86 parts, in terms of paint, windows, tyres, vehicle cleanliness, and body work free from damage.



Mr. AI Ameri said, the centre, which was developed in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police, provides services i.e. renewal, registration, transfer and issue of registration cards, plate numbers, in addition to side services such as tyre change/repair, vehicle electrical and mechanical services. There is also a cafeteria, waiting hall, police offices, car wash, insurance offices, and offense payment office.



Adnoc Distribution is in the process of opening three more vehicle inspection centres in Shahama, Baniyas and Mussafah with one lane each, while Abu Dhabi centre has five lanes, AI Ameri added. Four more vehicle inspection centres will be opened in AI Ain. The first one is the license centre with three lanes in AI Ain, second in AI Hair, third in AI Sad and the fourth one in AI Wajon with one lane each. In addition to three vehicle inspection centres in the Western region (Bida Zayed, Ruwais and Tarrif).



Mr. AI Ameri presented explanatory statistics that show the rate of failure in vehicle inspection during last March and April. He considered that this is evidence of the extreme importance of establishing such centres, and carrying out accurate vehicle inspections, especially as most vehicle inspection failure results are due to brake failure which may endanger vehicle drivers and passengers, as well as other road traffic.



He said, the current standards in the centres were approved by recommendations of the Traffic and License Department at the Ministry of Interior . They are also internationally approved in the vehicle inspection centres in Europe and USA. Vehicle inspection staff were well trained. He aave technical standards comparison currently used with Dubai and Germany standards.



Finally, Mr. AI Ameri mentioned that the average number of vehicles inspected daily at the centre during the testing and before the opening was 500-750 vehicles.
